DEMRE
Myra is one of the ancient coastal cities visited by Paul, Luke and Aristarchus (Acts 27:15-6) where as prisoners they changed their boats on the way to Rome.
The most interesting building is the church of St. Nicholas built over his tomb. St. Nicholas was born in Patara and was bishop of Myra.
His reliquary is in the Museum of Archeology in Antalya. There is also an impressive Roman theater and rock tombs. From here you can make a daily boat trip to Kekova Island. Demre is located more than 2.5 hours from Antalya and is an agricultural town.
If you look out over the town you will see mostly orange orchards and green houses. Near here are some of the most unspoiled beaches of Turkey and the enchanting Kekova Island area. You may also visit Arykanda, an ancient site in the Toros Mountains or wander Andriake alone.
Here nightlife is non-existent, and only a few fish restaurants line the unspoiled beach. You may also conveniently visit the towns of Kas or Kalkan from here.
